The AMERICAN SILENT HORROR COLLECTION features four horror classic movies from the silent era: THE MAN WHO LAUGHS, the story of a carnival performer with a disfigured face; THE PENALTY, featuring Lon Chaney as a legless criminal; DR. JEKYLL AND MR.HYDE, starring John Barrymore; and THE CAT AND THE CANARY, where several strangers must spend the night in a haunted mansion. The compilation also includes the documentary KINGDOM OF SHADOWS, which chronicles the history of silent horror films.
Asami Ogawa (BEAUTIFUL GIRL HUNTER) might seem like an average office worker with her conservative outfits and pleasant demeanor, but underneath lurks a sex-charged woman. Part of Nikkatsu Studio’s Roman porn series, this film is a unique look at another side of 1970s Japanese filmmaking.
Russ Meyer would be proud! Salacious porn princess and ex-gubernatorial candidate Mary Carey heads a cast of scantily-clad, buxom vixens whose tops are popping amidst a devious serial killer wreaking havoc by splattering buckets of gore. Perpetually horny James (Sean Andrews) is spending the summer with his bible-preaching, whore-loving father when gruesome deaths, objectifying sculptures and a sexy lesbian nurse disrupt his visit. This instant cult classic salutes sexploitation comedies with female flesh, a bloody hex, and above all, sex!
Producer Dan Curtis (Dark Shadows, The Night Stalker), faithfully resurrects Mary Shelley's Gothic classic in an acclaimed adaptation starring Robert Foxworth (Falcon Crest), Bo Svenson (Delta Force) and Susan Strasberg (Picnic). Fiercely devoted to the theories of extending and creating human life, scientist Victor Frankenstein and his assistants have secretly assembled an artificial man with human parts stolen from graves. Once he is brought to life, the enormous creature exhibits a child-like innocence. Unaware of his superhuman strength and frightful appearance, the Giant becomes hostile and demands that Victor create him a mate.
Italian master of horror Dario Argento's second directorial effort (and the centerpiece of the "animal trilogy" of giallos--or mystery/thrillers--which includes BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE and FOUR FLIES ON GREY VELVET) is a suspenseful murder mystery infused with the filmmaker's trademark graphic violence. Karl Malden stars as a blind man with a talent for solving puzzles who teams-up with reporter Carlo Giordani (James Franciscus) to launch a private investigation into a string of peculiar murders, all of which seem to involve a dubious genetic research facility. The killer soon becomes wise to the duo's plans and will do whatever it takes to stop them from reporting to the police.
Hope and her young daughter are abducted and brought to a remote forest by a mysterious and nameless man. As Hope is forced to undergo a series of humiliating, violent, and degrading trials, she fights desperately to escape and discover the fate of her missing daughter.
The first TURKISH TARZAN used to be a legend among collectors of the obscure. For the others, it simply did not exist or sounded like a joke. Now, time for the legend to turn into vivid reality. Gathering dust since 1952, this classic Turkish Cinema pioneer ended up in Onar's gentle hands. The only surviving elements were in relic-like condition but with a decent remastering the result is not bad anymore.
