Director: Joe Blood Benson; Producer: Leprosyvideo; Original release: 1998 (VHS)
Distributed in the underground circuit, Zombi Killer was well received from the fanzines edited back then (Fantasticorama, etc…), and was even honoured of a column in the famous French magazine Mad Movies. In a distant future (2084), the infamous Senator Kane is willing to take over the power. Yet, an explosion in one of his experimentation factories let go some of his "experimentations". To cover this catastrophe likely to compromise his political career, he sends two men and a cyborg "Type 5 patroller" to send back the zombies crawling in the forest nearby the factory. Zombi killer mixes various elements from Sci-Fi and horror, together with a dynamic editing. The experimental cam effects are offering nice and innovative shots, proving that it is possible to do very cool stuff - and not inept at all - with a simple video cam. However its amateur style, Zombi Killer is very ambitious. The cast, whose faces are very Italian B movie style, are delivering quality interpretation and are giving the movie a real credibility. As far as the gore is concerned, it is used efficiently. This well delivered amateur flick thus features eye popping, decapitation and living dead feasts. Early 2006, the VHS were sold out, and the director thought about a second release, however on a numeric support. At this point, he asks Sin'Art - amongst other - for a DVD edition of Zombi Killer. |
