Des étudiants en cinéma décident de tourner, dans une forêt, un film d'horreur à petit budget. Tombant de manière assez impromptue sur un soulèvement de morts-vivants, ils sont témoins de massacres, de destructions et du chaos ambiant. Ils choisissent alors de braquer leurs caméras sur les zombies et les horreurs bien réelles auxquels ils sont confrontés. Ils tentent de rendre ainsi compte de la situation apocalyptique et de l'appétit féroce des revenants dans un style " cinéma-vérité " documentaire à la première personne.
